6/14/2022 West Plains Newsletter

Last week, members of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater West Plains were treated to a unique offering! Internationally acclaimed artist, Dr. Bolaji Ogunwo, provided instruction and inspiration during two hour-long sessions featuring the use of art as a form of expression. The children asked great questions during his session.
“I am always very impressed with children’s depth of understanding and how the use of art spans the cultural gaps. The beauty of art does serve to bring societies together” Dr. Ogunwo commented.
“We are honored to have Dr. Ogunwo visit The Club! His ability to relate and communicate to our members is truly admirable,” stated Executive Director Hannah Salvesen.
Dr. Ogunwo is a professor at the University of Lagos in Nigeria, Africa. He is currently traveling throughout the U.S. to attend various gallery exhibitions featuring his works of art. Dr. Ogunwo is no stranger to our community, last year he was responsible for painting a beautiful mural on the inside of the Christos House in West Plains and he also received a symbolic key to the City presented by Mayor Mike Topliff for his efforts. He is the guest of West Plains residents, Crockett Oaks III and BGCWP Board Chair, Tonya Oaks.
